KaudullaNational Park
The Kaudulla National Park is another iconic nature reserve near Sigiriya that allows you to explore the rich biodiversity of the island. The park is famed for being home to large numbers of Sri Lankan elephants. During the months of August and September, huge herds of elephants gather around the watering holes in Kaudulla, similar to Minneriya. This is a truly magical phenomenon to behold.
The nature reserve is also home to some rare and endemic species of mammals, reptiles, and amphibians, the most notable being the Sri Lankan leopard, Sri Lankan sloth bear, and the albino axis deer. The park is also teeming with bird life, making it an ideal spot for bird watchers.
